While
podcasting is a fairly new medium, like all other areas of the Internet it is growing at lightning speed. Considering
that Genealogy ranks second only to Gardening as America's favoriate hobby, it's no wonder that family history podcasts are
popping up. As the choices grow larger, it will become increasingly important to spend your listening time on the best
of the best. Fascinating content, good sound quality, and expert knowledge are just some of the criteria for selecting
a podcast.
The
Genealogy Gems Podcast meets all these criteria - and yet it goes much further. Launched
in February of 2007, Genealogy Gems has soared toward the top of the genealogy podcast list. A quick look at the reviews
found on the podcast's iTunes page tell the story...
“Great
site!! I LOVED this podcast!! I
listened to all 9 episodes today while at work. I love that they’re short,
but they’re packed full of great ideas and ways to do research that I hadn’t thought of. Thank you for creating this podcast and keep on doing more!!”

“So many reasons to like this
podcast! I’m no newcomer to genealogy research and computers, but I’ve
learned a lot from Genealogy Gems in just the first 10 episodes (I’m catching up!) Lisa Louise Cooke really knows what
she’s doing, no doubt about it. She also does a great job of presenting
these “gems”, and her engaging style makes these podcasts a joy to listen t.
Keep some paper handy while listening – you’ll most likely be taking notes.”

However,
the real test is not just what listeners say, but what the competition says. Bill Puller of the Genealogy Tech Podcast also gives Genealogy Gems praise:
“Lisa
has a great presentation style and provides some great information on researching more efficiently. Please check out Lisa’s
Genealogy Gems Podcast, it is well worth the time.” And “ Lisa is one of the newest genealogycasters and she does an outstanding job of giving out research tricks
and techniques that you may not have thought about.”
Bill Puller, Host
of the Genealogy Tech Podcast
This
is high praise indeed as Bill's podcast is also ranks high on our list. While Bill focuses on the technology side of
genealogy, Lisa has a flair for innovative research techniques and creative family history displays. If you want to
cover all your bases, both are required listening!
The
Genealogy Gems Podcast can be subscribed to through iTunes or through the Genealogy Gems website. Subscription is the key to keeping abreast of new episodes.

All
in all, Genealogy Gems is setting the standard for the future of independent genealogy broadcasting. It is not
to be missed.
